Eco-Friendly ATV Rides: Marked Trails, Reusable Products
While no one would claim that activities like ATV or UTV riding are carried out with the environment in mind, this absolutely does not mean that those who take part in these pursuits don't care about eco-friendly or sustainable themes. In fact, there are a number of steps you can take to ensure you're riding in eco-friendly ways that don't do any more harm to the world around you than necessary.
At Louisiana Power Sports, we're here to not just offer the best selection of both new and pre-owned ATVs, UTVs, Can-Ams and more, but also to provide clients with tips on themes like these. What are some ways to stay as sustainable as possible with all your riding and trip needs? This two-part blog series will go over a number of areas to consider.
Always Remain on Marked, Designated Trails
For any given piece of property, there will be trails that are designated for riding and others that should be avoided. It might be tempting to take your ATV or UTV off the beaten path, but this can cause long-term damage that wasn't there before. When you stick to the designated trails, you help to ensure that the property can continue being enjoyed by others for years to come without any issue.
Not only does this help to preserve the property, but it also makes it easier on you as a rider. Designated trails are typically well-maintained and offer an enjoyable experience that won't be as challenging as some of the rougher terrain you might encounter if you venture off-trail.
Of course, there will be times when you need to cross over non-designated trails in order to stay on the one you're supposed to be riding. When this happens, try to avoid any sensitive areas like ditches, culverts, or stream crossings. If you must cross these areas, do so at a 90-degree angle to minimize the impact.
Choose Reusable Products Over Disposables
Whenever possible, choose reusable products over disposable ones. This could mean bringing along reusable water bottles or investing in a CamelBak for longer rides. Not only does this help to reduce waste, but it can also be more cost-effective in the long run.
The same principle can be applied to things like food storage. If you're planning on packing lunch or snacks for your ride, try to use reusable containers instead of wrapping everything in single-use plastic wrap. Not only is this better for the environment, but it can also help to keep your food fresher for longer.
In part two of our series, we'll go over some additional themes to consider here. For more on maintaining eco-friendly themes while participating in any ATV or UTV riding, or to learn about our products for sale in these realms, speak to the team at Louisiana Power Sports today.
