ATVs & UTVs Help You Keep Your Property Safe

Whether you own a farm, ranch, forestland or a large parcel of personal property, it’s important to protect it from thieves, poachers, trespassers and others who intend to encroach on your land. The best way to do this is with an ATV or UTV from Louisiana Powersports in Bossier City. These mighty, compact vehicles provide the power and convenience you need to keep your property secure.

Patrol Your Property with an ATV or UTV

Most everyone has likely seen government agents patrolling borders with ATVs. Although they often use Jeeps and other vehicles, much of the U.S. borders with Mexico and Canada are wide-open country with few roads. Using ATVs is the only reliable way to patrol.

It’s the same with your own property. Ranches, farms and forests often have access roads, but much of the land is either undeveloped or lacking reliable roads. Before ATVs and UTVs were invented, farmers, ranchers and property owners often used horses for this chore, but a powersports vehicle is faster, easier, more convenient — and cheaper!

A Polaris Sportsman is an excellent choice for this job. This rugged four-wheel ATV handles extremely well on rough terrain and its powerful headlights allow you to drive it before sunrise and after dark — when most nefarious activity takes place.

ATVs & UTVs for Farming & Ranching

As a farmer or rancher, it’s important to patrol your property regularly to ensure that all your livestock is safe and healthy, and that your fences are in good repair. A broken fence can mean lost cattle that can take many hours to round up and return.

For the most part, ATVs are built more for speed and UTVs for work, so an ATV will be faster than a UTV. However, you will be able to haul heavier loads with UTV. So if you want to multitask and carry feed out to your pastures, a UTV would be a better choice. Additionally, many UTVs have the capacity to transport injured or sick calves, sheep and other animals.

For a speedy ride out to the fields, barns or pastures, go with a Can-Am Outlander. The larger models can tow more than 1,000 pounds and reach speeds of up to 78 mph (although we don’t recommend doing these two things at the same time).

For UTVs, the Polaris Ranger and the Can-Am Defender can each carry up to 2,500 pounds, which is great when you want to haul feed or logs, or clear brush or debris.

Forestry & Logging with an ATV

If you own forest land that you contract out to logging companies, you need to make sure they are where they are supposed to be and not harming your land in the process. An ATV is the best way to do this, as forestland can be dense. You need a powerful vehicle to penetrate forestland that’s small enough to fit in tight spaces.

Both Polaris and Can-Am make a number of ATVs that suit this purpose well, maneuvering over hills and through water easily. And don’t think mud is a problem for these vehicles either — they’re built to master the most challenging terrain.
